Less of A Hero have been writing music with various line-ups for a number of years, but due to university commitments and people moving away; the line-up has been variable and disjointed. In it`s current form Less of a Hero is just the two founder members, vocalist Dan Morfitt (formerly of A Clever Cover Story and The Regicides) and guitarist James Oliver. The band have a very varied catalogue of songs; ranging from acoustic folk-sounding songs to full-band rock and even metal. 4th July... more

Before reading: It is important you understand that this is a voluntary role and as such we are unable to offer any payment. However, anything that you are asked by us to review will of course be provided where appropriate – be it albums or gigs. Who are we and what do we do? Resonance UK is a Bristol Based non-profit entertainment website which was formed in June 2010. The main bulk of our content currently focuses on music – on a nationwide scale. We are looking to expand in to other areas including: Books, Films and Film Previews, Games/ Games Demo’s, Television and even Theatre. We aim to provide reliable, up-to-date news stories, reviews, tour dates, photography and competitions. How do we work? We work on a review per gig basis, this means that for each review you are able to write for us we will try our best to provide you with an opportunity to attend a live gig: of your choice! This provides you with a chance to prove your reliability and demonstrate to us the consistency and standard of your writing. As we are a non-profit organisation we are unfortunately unable to reimburse any travel costs to, or from gigs that you accept to photograph or review. Any money that is made through the website by means of advertisement is invested towards the costs of hosting, promotion and improvements to the website. What can we do for you? Since Resonance UK was formed in June 2010 we have built up a range of contacts that include a number of large producers, management and press companies as well as record labels. For example, we have recently interviewed bands such as: Incubus, Fozzy (Fronted by WWE Superstar – Chris Jericho), Young Guns, YouMeAtSix and Deaf Havana. A little on `Speech Level Singing` The SLS technique helps singers find and strengthen their `natural` voice by training the neuromuscular system to produce sound in a healthy and effortless way. Singers who study SLS discover a vocal freedom unhampered by interfering muscular tension, which in turn helps us sing more easily and clearly. This is achieved through specific exercises that train and re-enforce the body to sing without unnecessary strain. SLS exercises prevent the muscles around the larynx (voice box) from interfering and ensure the vocal folds muscles develop correctly so that there is a natural balance to the sound production. As the singer gets used to producing sounds with a larynx that remains in a some what neutral position, they begin to feel an easy, flexible, connected, strong, free and balanced tone throughout the voice’s entire register (chest voice, mix & head voice).
